Dental Emergencies

If you are suffering from a dental emergency, we will make every effort to see you the same day. Our dentist in Simi Valley works a convenient schedule that will help address any dental emergencies that occur. Contact us as soon as possible after having an accident or dental emergency. Remember, if the dental emergency is life-threatening, please call 911.

It can happen sometimes that you won’t be able to make it to our Simi Valley dental office immediately. In cases like these, we recommend the following:

tooth pain

Extreme tooth pain
If you are having tooth pain, rinse your mouth with salt water and verify that no food is stuck in the decayed portion of the tooth. Flossing or brushing may help remove the food particles. You may also take pain killers while you wait to see our dentist.

tooth damage

Broken tooth or tooth damage
If you have a broken tooth, but it is not loose, make every attempt to save all pieces of the tooth by holding them still in your mouth and contact our dentist in Simi Valley as soon as possible.

Tooth falls

Tooth falls out or is knocked out
If your tooth is knocked out, rinse it with room temperature water and handle it only by the chewing surface to prevent any damage to the root of the tooth. It is best to store the tooth in your mouth to keep it moist and protected. If this is not possible, put the tooth in a small container with enough milk to cover the tooth.

Tooth filling

Tooth filling falls out
When a tooth filling falls out, your tooth may become sensitive to hot or cold foods. Local drug stores sell temporary tooth fillings which can be used to protect the tooth and reduce sensitivity in the meantime. If this is not possible, use a small piece of sugar-free gum to seal the tooth.

Facial Swelling

Facial Swelling
If your cheek, chin or mouth is swollen as a result of tooth pain, you may apply a cold compress such as an ice pack to the outside of your mouth to help reduce the swelling. Do not use any type of heat on this area because it will cause it to swell more.
