Replacing a Failing Root Canal with Dental Implants

Replacing a Failing Root Canal with Dental Implants

Root canals are a great way of saving a tooth. They are used to treat an infection that is in the root of the tooth. However, there are a few telltale signs that a root canal may be in trouble and needs to be replaced. Symptoms can go from pain to discoloration, and it is important to be aware of them so you can look for a solution as soon as possible. When a root canal fails, there are a few possible solutions, but none of them are as good as dental implants, and we are going to tell you why in this blog.

How do I know if a Root Canal is falling?

Root canals tend to last around 10 years. If a root canal fails before this time, it is usually due to an infection that was not treated properly. If you are experiencing any of the following symptoms, it is important to go see a dentist as soon as possible:

  • Severe pain when biting or chewing
  • Swelling and/or tenderness in the gums near the tooth
  • Discoloration of the tooth
  • Bad breath or taste coming from the tooth

If left untreated, an infection in the root canal can cause pain and other problems in other parts of the body.

What alternatives do I have for a failing Root Canal?

There are a few possible solutions, but none of them are as good as dental implants. One option is to remove the infected root canal and place a dental implant. This is the best solution, as it does not require any surgery and is very effective. Another option is to try and clean the infection in the root canal, but this often fails and the infection comes back. Finally, you could also have a crown placed on the tooth, but this can be expensive, and sometimes it is not possible due to how much damage has been done to the tooth.

Dental Implants: the best solution

Dental implants are usually the best solution when a root canal has failed, as they are a great way to save your tooth and avoid further damage. Implants are placed in the jawbone and act as a replacement for the root of the tooth. Dental implants are very strong and can last a lifetime with proper care. They are also very natural-looking, so no one will be able to tell that you have an implant.
